Equity and Justice Resources for Funders

In the wake of the racial justice uprisings of 2020, there has been increased interest in investing in communities of color and the local efforts led by leaders of color to strengthen their communities. There have also been renewed calls to address the disparities in the funding and supports available for nonprofit founders and leaders of color.

Yet, years have passed after many of these conversations started and much more progress is needed to achieve true justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion in Delaware’s philanthropic sector.

On this page, Harambee Delaware and The Proximity Project have curated some resources for funders seeking to become more proximate and justice-oriented in their philanthropy. We also encourage funders to search our directory of Delaware organizations led by people of color.

“Equity is about ensuring the communities most affected by injustice get the most money to lead in the fight to address that injustice, and if that means we break the rules to make that happen, then that’s what we do.” – Vu Le (Nonprofit AF)
