Black Women in Aviation
Empowering Black women to enter and thrive in the aviation industry, we’re inspiring future generations and building a legacy of excellence, diversity, and empowerment. Together, we aim to double Black women’s representation in aviation—from 1% to 2%.
Black Women in Aviation (BWIA) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to increasing representation, access, and opportunity for Black women and other historically excluded groups across every sector of the aviation ecosystem—air traffic control, pilots, flight attendants, maintenance, airport operations, aviation business, and beyond.
Through scholarships, mentorship, youth STEM programs, and professional development initiatives, BWIA empowers future and current aviation professionals from middle school through adulthood. Our support spans webinars, community-building tools, and strategic event participation—all designed to foster visibility, connection, and career advancement.
By partnering with schools, companies, and community organizations, BWIA is building a more inclusive future in aviation—proving that for our community, the sky is not the limit, but just the beginning.
