Harambee DE alumna launches new nonprofit organization — Teach Zen

Kyma Fulgence, an alumna of the first Harambee Delaware cohort, has just celebrated the successful launch of her nonprofit organization, Teach Zen Inc. Kyma’s unwavering dedication to supporting the youth of Delaware and early education professionals through art and social programs has been genuinely inspiring. In a Facebook post, Kyma writes, “my heart is so full today!!!! I started my early childhood education career in the 19805 zip code. This is where we moved almost 25 yrs ago, and while looking for child care for Maya Belardo, I decided that this was what I wanted to do!”

Significant challenges come with launching a nonprofit organization; fortunately, Harambee Delaware supported Kyma in her journey. From helping her navigate the 501c3 paperwork to providing guidance as she planned to launch, we are honored to have played a part in equipping her with the tools to forward her cause and take Teach Zen to new levels of success.

Thanks to Kyma’s passion and commitment, Teach Zen Inc. has recently received funding from the Parent Information Center of Delaware Inc/Family Shade. This funding will enable Teach Zen to service three classrooms in five childcare centers in the 19805 zip code of Wilmington, DE, bringing their reach to a total of 15 classrooms this Spring/Summer.

Teach Zen models social-emotional learning for young children by focusing on “MUSIC, MOVEMENT, and MINDFULNESS.” In launching Teach Zen, Kyma has drawn on her background in early childhood development and her genuine enthusiasm for helping children express themselves. Harambee Delaware congratulates Kyma on the launch of Teach Zen Inc and commends her commitment to education and her passion for making a positive difference in the lives of children!
